There are many brands of double strollers and they vary depending on the city, state, and country. However, there are only a few “styles” of double strollers. What kind of double stroller do you need for your twins is affected by the twins’ family, taste, and developmental stages. Here are some tips on how to choose the best stroller for your twins

carts travel system

These strollers are designed so that infant car seats “click” on the seats of the stroller; then when the babies grow out of the car seats, they can sit in the stroller. One child is in the front seat, the other in the back. One of the most used (and inexpensive) brands is Graco Duo-Glider, which sells in the US for about $ 150. Graco SnugRide car seats retail for about $ 80 each. Other brands, such as Evenflo, also make trolleys with a duo travel system.

Travel system strollers are great for families who:
– want a stroller that “grows up” with their twins and lasts a few years
– have access to car seats that work with the travel system stroller
– you want a stroller that can withstand some abuse, wear and tear
– you want a stroller that works well in stores (the slim design works well in the aisle)
– you want a stroller with trays in front of babies for snacks (we also use ours as a “high seat” when visiting relatives)

Travel system strollers do not work well for families who:
– have a vehicle with a small trunk
– have a parent who cannot lift a heavier and thicker stroller (although some of these strollers are now lighter and smaller)

Double strollers “Frame” car seat

These strollers are simply a metal frame that fits two car seats. Baby Trend’s Snap and Go is a popular choice because it hosts several brands of car seats. These frames retail for about $ 100.

“Frame” strollers are good for families who:
– already have car seats of different brands that fit the frame
– want a cheap option for babies and intend to upgrade when babies grow out of car seats
– have a parent who can not lift a heavy stroller
– to have a car with a small trunk
– you want a stroller that works well in stores (slim design works well in the aisle)

“Frame” strollers do not work well for families who:
– have older children who can abuse the stroller (these frames are more fragile)
– want a stroller that lasts more than a year (children usually grow out of baby seats with 12 months, usually).

Side-by-side

strollers These strollers come in many shapes, from cheaper umbrella strollers to expensive, sturdy strollers. They fold differently, direct differently, and have different levels of comfort on the seats, so a “test drive” is recommended before buying. An example of a higher level is the Combi’s Twin Savvy LX, which sells for about $ 300. A less expensive alternative is Avalon’s Side by Side.

Side by Side Strollers is suitable for families who:
– will use the stroller mainly in the exterior settings
– have twins hitting each other in a front-rear stroller
– have twins who prefer to sit next to each other

Side by Side Strollers do not work well for families who:
– need a stroller to accommodate car seats (most will only accommodate one if that)
– want to use the stroller in retail stores (often the aisles are not wide enough)
– want a lighter stroller to drive (they are often left-handed)
– live in a windy area (larger surface makes it harder to push)
– have twins they don’t like to be with

Jogging Strollers

These strollers are usually side by side. What differentiates them from a regular side-carriage is the design of the wheel – one wheel in front and two in the back. These strollers are designed for parents who run but are also very good for parents who want a sturdy double stroller that will do well. An example is Schwinn’s Free Runner 2, which sells for about $ 250.

Jogging Strollers are suitable for families who:
– are active and intend to use the stroller outdoors, on the streets, or on the trails
– want a stroller that is sturdy and has a certain wear
– you want a stroller that is easy to drive (although some are not – make sure you “test the unit” for any jogger you are considering)

Jogging strollers do not work well for families who:
– need a stroller to host a car seat
– have a car with a small trunk
– plan to use the stroller in stores (most are too wide)
– want a stroller with a tray for food or play (most don’t have one)
– have twins they don’t like so many rooms nearby

Convertible Bicycle Trailers

Almost everyone with twins has heard of Burley Bee, a bicycle trailer that also turns into a stroller. Other brands are also available at bike shops and some children’s retailers. These are not cheap (new trailers from any brand are usually over $ 400), but if your family bikes a lot, they are a great choice.

Bicycle trailers are good for families who:
– intend to use the stroller/trailer mainly outdoors, on trails, or streets
– spend time cycling together
– have older twins (are unsafe for babies and do not accommodate car seats)

Trailers for bicycles do not work well for families who:
– have a car with a small trunk
– intend to use the stroller in stores
– they have twins who don’t like so many nearby rooms
